Seiko
The Story of Seiko began back in 1881, when Kintaro Hattori opened a shop at the age of 21, selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. 11 years later, in 1892, he started the 'Seikosha" factory, which marked the beginning of one of the most successful Japanese watchmaking companies that created numerous innovative designs and high-quality watches, keep pushing further ahead to the future.
There is a list of milestones that mark the company's heritage to watch manufacturing. The first Seiko brand watch was released in 1924, right after the great Kanto earthquake that struck the company's operation and a restart has to be made. In 1960, Grand Seiko was introduced to represent the capabilities of the company's most skillful watchmakers, in pursuing the highest level of excellence in mechanical watchmaking.
In 1965, the first-ever Japanese made diver's watch was released by Seiko, with its automatic movement and water resistance level to 150 meters, the quality and reliability were proven to be loved by professional divers and adventurers, they were also being used by the members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition from 1966 to 1969. Since then, Seiko has developed many more other successful diver's models, including the Professional Diver's 600M launched in 1975, which is the first diver's watch with a titanium case. And the following 1986, the world's first 1000M professional diver's watch was released, this is the first Seiko Prospex diver's watch that features a ceramic outer case.
