To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of G-Shock in 2023, Casio has "reworked" the first model DW-5000, by bringing the Iconic Square Face with a new surface expression method that brings strength, Recrystallization plus deep hardening with Gold Ion-plating. By incorporating the recrystallization process of stainless steel and deep hardening treatment into the design of GMW-B5000PG-9, the exterior has a unique shine. In addition, coatings such as IP (ion plating), DLC (diamond-like carbon), and TIC (titanium carbide) are applied to achieve beautiful color development at the same time.

In addition, DLC processing is also applied to the screw-back and the 40th-anniversary logo engravement. The dial is decorated with the letters "SINCE 1983" designed by the famous street graffiti artist, Eric Haze.
