Imperial Enterprise has announced the release of a new Seiko watch to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Hokutosei sleeper limited express. The "Seiko Sleeper Limited Express Hokutosei 35th Anniversary DD51 Watch" is a limited edition model with only 5,000 pieces available. It will be shipped in late November and features an engraved back cover with the Hokutosei emblem and a unique edition number.
The watch's dial is inspired by the front face of the Hokutosei, which is towed by the DD51 locomotive that runs between Hakodate and Sapporo. The blue dial features a gold band in the center and three in-dials that imitate the Hokutosei head mark and headlights at 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock, and 9 o'clock.
The case and strap of the watch are made of stainless steel, with a case size of 47 x 39.8 x 12.8 mm. The watch is also waterproof up to 10 atm and has a quartz movement with an average monthly difference within ±15 seconds.
In addition to the watch, the box is a special edition with a gold "Hokutosei" emblem stamped on it. It also includes a photo of the Hokutosei train running through northern Japan, pulled by a DD51 locomotive.
