Casio iconic shock-resistant watch, G-SHOCK, is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its only diver's watch, the "FROGMAN," with the release of a limited edition model, the MRG-BF1000E-1A9, on July 7th. With only 700 units available worldwide, this timepiece is a rare and valuable addition to any watch collection.
While 2023 marks the 40th anniversary of G-SHOCK, the 30th anniversary of the Frogman is a significant milestone in its own right. The watch's unique and distinctive "asymmetrical case" design has garnered a loyal following since its original release and continues to be a popular choice among watch enthusiasts. The Frogman has also been featured in various anniversary models and collaboration collections.
The MRG-BF1000E-1A9 is the second MRG-BF1000 model and the fourth Frogman 30th Anniversary model to be released by G-SHOCK. This limited edition MR-G Frogman, also a G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary edition, features a yellow Dura Soft fluoro rubber band and a black titanium band that can be easily removed and replaced using the included mounting tool.
Based on the latest "MRG-BF1000R" released in April 2023, the MRG-BF1000E-1A9 belongs to the MR-G series, the highest peak of G-SHOCK, and is made of titanium material to achieve the unique Frogman form. The watch's main color is yellow, reminiscent of the first color model of the Frogman, with a black dial and bezel.
The MRG-BF1000E-1A9 features a bright yellow band and hour markers, gold IP crown and buttons, gold screws, and a gold vapor deposition back cover. The included replacement metal band has a deep hardening treatment and DLC coating on each frame, ensuring high quality, precision, and wear resistance.
The case back of the MRG-BF1000E-1A9 is fitted with a sapphire crystal, and a special anniversary engraving in gold vapor deposition is featured. The large raised index markers are hand-painted with phosphorescent yellow paint for high visibility underwater and in the dark.
As a diver's watch, the MRG-BF1000E-1A9 boasts ISO standard 200m waterproof performance and is equipped with Bluetooth connectivity to link with a smartphone via a dedicated app. Users can easily set the world time for approximately 300 cities worldwide and access various diving functions, including dive time measurement, surface rest time display, diving log acquisition, and tide graph.
