In honor of Ueno Station's 140th anniversary, Citizen is launching three special "Ana Digi Temp" combination watch models as part of their esteemed "Citizen Collection."
Introducing the JG2148-66L (Hokutosei), JG2140-68H (Cassiopeia), and JG2149-63W (Limited Express Hitachi), these watches beautifully incorporate the designs of the iconic trains associated with Ueno Station. Each watch features the respective train's head mark engraved on the case back, accompanied by a unique special case.
These commemorative timepieces will be made to order, and reservations will be accepted until January 28, 2024. Shipping is scheduled for late July 2024. Please note that the possibility of future resale of these watches after the sales period has not been determined.
JG2148-66L 24 series 25 (Hokutosei): This sleeper train, which began operations in 1988, offers direct service between Tokyo and Hokkaido. The watch captures the essence of the train with its dial design reflecting the impressive blue color, gold line, and black of the coupling section. The case is blue, the band is black, and the in-dial needle display is inspired by the passenger car's instrument panel. The "LOBBY CAR" logo of the passenger car is elegantly placed on the plate at the bottom right of the case.
JG2140-68H E26 series (Cassiopeia): Operating from 1999 to 2015, this sleeper train showcases a unique front design that is incorporated into the watch's dial. The star from the train's head mark is featured as a disk-shaped second hand. The plate at the bottom right of the case is adorned with the five-color line found on the side of the vehicle, adding a touch of authenticity.
JG2149-63W 485 series (Limited Express Hitachi): Starting its operations in 1969, this train connected Ueno Station with Hira Station (now Iwaki Station). The watch pays homage to the 485 series with a dial design inspired by its front design, combining the red No. 2 and cream No. 4 national railway express colors. The hour and minute hands are designed based on meters, and the plate at the bottom right of the case proudly displays the pattern found on the side of the car body and the JNR logo.
Based on Citizen's popular hit model from the 1980s, the "ANA DIGI TEMP" base model features a crystal glass windshield, a case diameter of 32.5 mm, and a thickness of 8.2 mm. The watches are powered by the quartz "Cal.8989" movement, offering a range of functions including a chronograph, alarm, thermometer, calendar, and dual-time display.
