Seiko Prospex Land Automatic 1959 Alpinist Modern Re-Interpretation Automatic

SPB243
(JDM Version Model: SBDC147)

In 2021, Seiko offered a high-performance exploration-ready series featuring their reliable 6R35 caliber, the 2021 Alpinist. These 2021 Alpinist series included three models, the pearl dial SPB241J1, the grey dial SPB243J1, and the leather strap emerald dial SPB245J1.

This series of Alpinists is a salute to its ancestor, the first Alpinist created in 1959 - the Seiko Laurel Alpinist. For those who might not be aware, the Alpinist is a watch designed specifically by Seiko for "Yama-Otoko", literally meaning the "Mountain Man". At that time, the diver's watch was dominating the market, there were no other watchmakers specifically designing a watch for mountain use.

These Modern Re-Interpretation Alpinists featured the distinctive elements of the 1959 Alpinist, it used the same striking and very bold large triangular markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock on the dial. It carries a total vintage look.
