Seiko Prospex Automatic 1959 Alpinist Modern Re-Interpretation
SPB 249J1
(SBDC 159)
This series of Alpinists is a salute to its ancestor, the first Alpinist created in 1959 - the Seiko Laurel Alpinist. For those who might not aware, the Alpinist is a watch designed specifically by Seiko for "Yama-Otoko", literally meaning the "Mountain-Man". At that time, the diver's watch was dominating the market, there is no watchmaker specifically designed a watch for mountain use.
These Modern Re-Interpretation Alpinists featured the distinctive elements of the 1959 Alpinist, it used the same striking and very bold large triangular markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock on the dial. It carries a totally vintage look.
